What is IVF?
It means ‘in vitro fertilisation’ and it’s when a women injects a lot of FSH so lots of eggs mature at the same time so she has surgery to collect the mature eggs (which are mixed with sperm in a Petri dish) the healthy embryos are inserted back into a uterus so hopefully it’ll grow a baby
What is hormonal ways of fertility?
Implants, patchs, injections, contraceptive pill and IUD/ Coil
What are barrier away of fertility?
Diaphragm, sterilisation, IUD/ Coil, Rhythm method, condoms and Spermicide
What happens if it’s hormonal (fertility)?
It stops FSH so no eggs mature
What happens if it’s barrier and not hormonal (fertility)?
It stops the egg and sperm meeting
What is glucose?
A sugar found in the body
What is Insulin?
A hormone which controls storage of glycogen in the liver
What is glycogen?
A storage of carbohydrates found in the liver and muscles
What is glucagon?
A hormone that breaks down glycogen into glucose
