Sensitive Information
Information that has to be protected to safe guard the privacy or security of an individual. Examples of sensitive information are date of birth and phone number.
Non-sensitive Information
Information that is already a matter of public record or knowledge. Examples of non-sensitive information are an individual’s name and shop addresses.
Private Information
Private information is information about individuals or organisations. Examples of private information are address, phone number, nationality and gender.
Public Information
Information about the Government and other publicly owned organisations. Public information can be disclosed without any restriction on content and audience. Examples of public information are work location, employee ID and work phone number.
Personal Information
Private information about individuals that could identify them. Examples of personal information include financial information, medical records and social security numbers.
Business Information
Information about businesses. Examples of business information include trade secrets and financial data.
Confidential Information
Confidential information is private information that needs to be kept private as it is seen as more valuable. This means confidential information is only given to someone if they really need to see it or be aware of it. Examples of confidential information are sealed bids and legal investigations.
