2
Q

what is eustatic change?

A

occurs when ice on land melts increasing the volume of water present in the sea.
Usually accompanied by thermal changes

3
Q

what is isostatic change?

A

occurs from downward movement of land causing localised sea level rise.
land can be stressed downwards from post glacial adjustment, subsidence and accretion

Q

what are emergent coastlines?

A

result of sea level change- stretch of coast that’s been exposed by the sea

Q

what is a submergent coastline?

A

result of sea level change- stretches along the coast that have been inundated by the sea

Q

what effect does global warming have on sea level change?

A

causes eustatic change as ocean temps warm and particles expand taking up more space in the ocean basin, causing rise in sea level

Q

what role does tectonic activity play in sea level change?

A

causes sea floor spreading creating a larger platform for water to sit on.
also effects shape of basins if they get smaller volume of oceans decrease and sea level rises

Q

how does tectonic uplift effect isostatic change?
