An employment contract is a legally binding formal agreement between employer and employee. It clarifies the key duties and responsibilities of the job.
Some key features in contract include:

- supperannuation
What are two employer obligations in HR?
Providing work - not allowd to provide work if there is none nor allowed to stand down employees if there is no work
Payment of income and expenses - required to pay employees required in award
What are two employee obligations in HR?
Obey lawful and reasonable commands
Use care and skill in the performance of their work activities
Define award
Awards are a contract containinf minimum terms and conditions of employment. May include minimum wage, penalty rates, types of employment, flexible working arrangements, rest breaks, hours of labour, leaves. Etc
What is an enterprise agreement?
Enterprise agreeements are collective agreements made at a workplace between an employer and group of employees about terms and conditions of employment.
What are the three types of enterprise agreements?
Single enterprise agreement - single employer and multiple employees
Multi enterprise agreement - two or more employers with multiple employees.
Greenfields agreement - made with one or more relevant unions
How does OHS promote a safe working environment?
Through laws including:
- employmers must ensure health safety and welfare at work of all employees by providing a safe system of work.
- employers must take out workers compensation insurance
How can an employer prevent discrimination in work place?
Complying with legislation such as sex discrimination act and anti discrimination act and auditing policies and practices to prevent discrimination.
What are two economic influences in HR?
The economic cycle - demand for goods and services. Economic growth and decline. May lead to seperation.
Globalisation - outsourcing overseas must comply with social justice principles. Including international labour organization.
List two social influences in HR
Changing work patterns such as career flexibility and job mobility. HR managers must retain skilled and talented staff through benefits and opportunities
Living standards - increase in high living standards will reflect HR management.
