IMPACT OF GLOBALISATION
o Operations processes and activities now need to cater for the global market either by customising or standardising
o Many businesses have developed a global sourcing and production network expanding the distance of their operations process.
TECHNOLOGY
o Technology refers to the design, construction and application of innovative devices, methods and machinery to operations processes.
o Within operations management technology is used to plan, organise and control the processes and during the operations process itself
IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY
o The use of technology within the operations process improves the speed and consistency of quality of production
o It can increase the competitiveness of a business by producing/providing unique and customised goods and/or services
