Q

What is the triple bottom line?

A

Crucial to the concept of CSR is the idea of the triple bottom line. It is argued that maximising profit strains the environment and exploits employees. As a result, well managed businesses should pursue profit and protect the environment by sustainable development as well as fight for social justice by promoting the rights of employees and the community.
This is the triple bottom line:
Profit
Environment protection
Social justice

A significant aspect of the triple bottom line is sustainable development, meaning environmental protection and responsible behaviour.

Operations and production management are especially influenced by CSR. Operations and production management create the business’s environmental footprint through production, transformation and outputs.

A business also provides the working conditions and work satisfaction of these employees. More widely, a business develops the facilities, such as factories, offices and warehouses that are located in communities and contribute to both community growth and congestion.

Most large businesses have embraced this corporate and social responsibility concept and the annual reports of large businesses highlight the way the business provides this service to the society.

Q

What is the Messina case study>

A

How is Messina trying to achieve CSR?
- Environmentally sustainable dairy farm
- Partnered with Ozharvest to reduce food waste
- Recycled tubs
EXTRACT FOR MESSINA GELATO’S INSTAGRAM STORY REGARDING TUB

If you have been in store recently and grabbed a tub you likely have been offered a new eco-friendly tub made entirely out of cardboard (it can go straight in your yellow bin after a quick rinse!). it’s pretty exciting because we have been trying to find a styrofoam alternative for just about as long as we can remember.
After some initial feedback and testing it’s clear they’re not the perfect solution… yet. there’s a few limitations- the travel time is shorter than styrofoam and they can be a little leaky… basically it’s a step in the right direction, but not quite there YET.
However, the fact is; styrofoam WILL be banned soon enough so we wanted to start testing a new version now.
So if you want to give these new ones a go, we do recommend being prepared! bring a cooler bag for longer journeys (preferably with some ice packs) and chuck the tub straight in the freezer when you get home. it’s a bit of a behavioural shift we all changed when we had to start bringing out own bags at the supermarket.. so bring your cooler bags when you come to Messina.
If you’ve got any questions or feedback, comment them and we’ll answer them :)
