An inflammatory arthritis associated with Psoriasis.
Patterns of Presentation of Disease (3).
- Symmetrical like RA (Commoner in Women) - affecting Hands, Wrists, Ankles, DIPs but not MCP (unlike Rheumatoid).
- Asymmetrical Oligoarthritis (digits).
- Spondylitis (Commoner in Men).
Clinical Features of Psoriatic Arthritis (6).
- Psoriatic Plaques.
- Pitting of Nails.
- Onycholysis (Separation of Nail from Nailbed).
- Dactylitis.
- Enthesitis.
- Subungual Hyperkeratosis.
Skin Changes in Psoriatic Arthritis.
Arthritis precedes development of skin lesions.
X-Ray Changes of Psoriatic Arthritis (5).
- Periostitis (Thickened, Irregular Outline of Bone).
- Ankylosis (Fusion).
- Osteolysis.
- Dactylitis.
- Pencil-in-Cup (central erosions).

Management of Psoriatic Arthritis (4).
Similar to Rheumatoid Arthritis :
- NSAIDs for Pain.
- DMARDs (Methotrexate, Leflunomide, Sulfasalazine).
- Anti-TNF Medications.
- Last Line : Ustekinumab.
What is Ustekinumab?
A monoclonal antibody targeting IL-12 and IL-13.
What is Arthritis Mutilans?
Most severe form, occurring in the phalanges with osteolysis and shortening of the digit - telescopic finger (skin changes).
Prognosis of Psoriatic Arthritis.
Big Variation : Mild Stiffening or Soreness in Joint OR Arthritis Multilans (Complete Destruction).
