Aspirin

A
  • inhibits COX 1 & 2
  • antiinflam, antipyretic analgesic
  • effects for musculoskeletal pain, but not visceral

Adverse effects

  • bleeding
  • reye syndrom
    • could be fatal –> hepatic necrosis
    • avoid from infants

Ibuprofen

A
  • antiinflam, antipyretic, analgesic
  • inhibit COX 1 & 2

Adverse effects:

  • gastric ulcers, less intense than asprin
  • Myocardial iinfarctions

Celecoxib

A
  • COX 2 selective (not involved with clotting for blood)
  • osteoarthritis antiinflammatory
  • poor analgesic

Adverse effect

  • reduced flow to kidney = hyptension / renal faiure –> Myocardial infarction/ stroke
  • arthritis for chronis use

Do not use for:

  • patients with OA or RA
  • MI/ stroke/ Hypertension

acetaminophen

A
  • inhbits PG synthesis –>antipyretic analgesic
  • poor antiinflammatory effect / blood clotting
  • NO LONGER CONSIDERED NSAID
