- Herpes Simplex (HSV1 & HSV2)
- Chicken Pox/Shingles
- Bullous Impetigo
- Fungal Infections (Candidiasis & Dermatophyte)
- Bullous pemphigoid (autoimmune)
- Dermititis herpetiformis
- Pemphigoid vulgaris (hemidesmosome attack)
- Porphyria Cutanea Tarda (sun exposed)

Hallmarks of Herpes Simplex
A
- Group vesicles on a red base that become purulent & crusted
- HSV1 = everyone
- treat actively when it is around the eye
- HSV2 = STD

Chickenpox hallmarks
A
- small vesicles (usually on the trunk) rapidly become pustules and crust
- spread by respiratory droplets
- now have immunizations (get 2 doses)

Shingles (zoster) hallmarks
A
- follows a nerve root/dermatome
- usually more lumbar
- unilateral rash
- post-herpetic neuralgia
- risk increases with age
- vaccine now available
- ZOSTER ON NOSE = POTENTIAL EYE PROBLEM

Bullous Impetigo hallmarks
A
- bullae & blisters occurring most commonly in the fold areas
- axillary, & groin most common
- looks sort of like chickenpox but in a different area
- pruritic

Candidiasis infection hallmarks
A
- cutaneous & mucosal
- small postules with fringe of white scale
- beefy red dermatitis
- common in skin folds

Dermatophyte infection hallmarks
A
- superficial blisters or pustules
- athletes foot

Bullous pemphigoid hallmarks
A
- taut blisters (i.e. tense bullae)
- 60-80 years old
- autoimmune

Dermatitis Herpetiformis hallmarks
A
- Pruritic
- clusters of erythmatous papules & vesicles
- arise due to gluten insensitivity (complication of celiacs)
- distributed symmetrically along extensor surfaces

Pemphigous Vulgaris hallmarks
A
- flaccid blisters
- NIKOLSKY SIGN
- top skin layers slip off when slightly rubbed

Porphyria Cutanea Tarda hallmarks
A
- blistering of the skin in sun-exposed areas
- deficiency in heme synthesis
