4 cartridges
what are the 3 landmarks for IDB
PterygoMandibular
Raphe
Ramus of
Mandible
Retro molar pad
what are post op instructions for IDB?
No rinsing for 24 hours,
Soft diet
Luke warm foods
No exercise/rest
Do not poke the wound
Bite on clean cotton gauze if bleeding
Gentle brushing
Contact surgery or A+E if any heavy bleeding
Painkillers before the LA wears off or if any pain, pain killers (paracetamol based)
Give verbal and written instructions
what anaesthetic do we not use of an IDB and why?
articane as its a higher concentration higher risk of inferior alveolar nerve or lingual nerve damage.
what is the difference between lidocaine and prilocaine (citanest)?
lidocaine has adrenaline in it where as prilocaine (citanest) has no adrenaline its plain although prilocaine has fellypressin in it which we cannot use on pregnant patients
