Inferentail Statistics Flashcards
How do you complete a statistical test ?
- Is it a test if difference or a correlation
- Whats the experimental design
- What was the level of measurement
What are the 3 levels of measurements
Nominal
Ordinal
Interval/ratio
Whats nominal data
This is the most basic level of measurement as described as category data.
Gives us vert little data.
Frequency data
Example: do you smoke? Yes or no
Whats ordinal data
Data that is ordered through a ranking (on a scale)
Based on a subjective opinion
What’s interval and ratio data
Interval = go bellow 0
Ratio = starts at 0
This is the most precise data as it tells you the most

Whats a type 1 error
This is when the probability is too lenient
For example a probability above 0.05
This can give us a false positive because we accept our hypothesis when we should have accepted our null hypothesis.
What’s a type 2 error
When you are too strict
For example a probability bellow 0.05
This can give us a false negative as we accept our null hypothesis when we should have accepted our actual hypothesis.
