What is a non-infectious disease?
Not caused by infectious agents and cannot be transmitted from one person to another. The onset may be due to environmental, lifestyle, and genetic factors.
What is an infectious disease?
Caused by pathogens, which invade your body tissues. They can be transmitted from one person to another by the spread of microbes.
What is a pathogen?
Causes a number of diseases that range in severity and how they’re transmitted.
What are protozoa?
Protozoa are single celled, eukaryotic organisms that belong to the protist kingdom. Some protozoans can cause cysts.
What is a virus?
Sub-microscopic infectious agent that replicates only inside the living cells of an organism. Found as intracellular parasites and cause many plant and animal diseases.
What is a prion?
Prions are unusual infectious particles - cause of diseases like mad cow disease.
