Reduce viral load to less than 50 copies
What is the initial tx regimen for HIV?
2 NRTIs plus either 1 NNRTI or a protease inhibitor

Every month until you reach goal and then every 3-6 months after that

Pneumococcal vaccine

When CD4 is below 100
When do you discontinue prophylaxis for MAC?
When CD4 count is greater than 100 for more than 6 months
When do you get prophylaxis doe Toxoplasmosis?
When cd4 count is less than 100 and there is positive IgG abs
What is the tx for toxoplasmosis?
Double strength TMP-SMX
Sulfadiazine and pyrimethamine
Dapsone
What is the prophylactic treatment of TB for HIV?
INH for 9 months
Or
Rifampin for 4 months
What is the prophylactic tx for candidiasis?
Fluconazole
Nystatin swish and swallow
What is the tx for HSV in HIV?
Daily acyclovir, famciclovir, valacyclovir
When do you give pneumococcal vaccine to HIV patients?
Every 5 years while CD4 is greater than 200
How do you treat cryptococcal meningitis?
Amphotericin B and flucytosine
How do you treat Nocardia?
Bactrim
How do you tx strep. Pneumo meningitis?
Ceftriaxone + vanc
