A

Campylobacter (most common cause of food poisoning in developed countries)
Shigella
E. Coli (most common cause of travellers diarrhoea)
Vibrio parachaemia lycticus (shellfish)

Dengue fever

A

Short incubation time - symptoms appear quickly 3-4 days, can be asymptomatic
Bone pain, malaise, retro-orbital pain, sudden onset fever, headache
Hepatomegaly, lymphadenopathy
Causes dengue haemorrhagic fever: petechial rash, GI pain, nosebleeds, feeling faint
Leads to dengue shock syndrome
Ix: ELISA
Tx: conservative tx

Stool toxin
Metronidazole (can’t drink)
Then vancomycin if metronidazole is contraindicated
