Femoral hernias
More common in females
Protrude through femoral canal
High risk of strangulation - needs surgery
Contents of femoral triangle: NAVEL - nerve, artery, vein, empty space, lymphatic
Non reducible, mildly painful, inferolateral to pubic tubercle
Inguinal hernia
Protrusion of abdominal contents through inguinal canal
Common in men
Direct is medial to epigastric vessels
Indirect is lateral to epigastric vessels
Low risk of strangulation except in children
Usually reducible
Above and medial to pubic tubercle
THE THEATRES - scrotal swelling
Tumour - firm hard irregular painless - seminoma 30-50, teratoma 20-30
Hernia indirect inguinal
Eodema
Torsion - pain and loss of cremasteric reflex
Hydrocele - transilluminant… Varicocele - heavy, dragging, subfertility, bag of worms
Epididymitis - infection so fever
Appendixtestes
Trauma
Recurrent leukaemia
Epididymal cyst
Syphilis/TB
