Inert Tissue Conditions Flashcards
What are the 7 Inert tissue conditions?
- Femoral Acetabular Impingement
- Sprain
- Frozen Shoulder
- Osteoarthritis
- Meniscal issues
- Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome
- Shoulder Instability
Define Femoralacetabular Impingment
A pathological process by which morphological abnormalities of the acetabulum and/or femur combined with vigorous hip motion can damage to soft tissue structures within the hip itself
What are the 3 types of femoral acetabular impingement?
- Cam
- Pincer
- Combined
What is a cam impingement?
Where the abnormality is located on the FEMORAL HEAD OR NECK
What is a pincer impingement?
Where the abnormality is located on the acetabulum leading to an over coverage of the femoral head.
Define a sprain
A sprain is an injury or a ligament.
Usually caused by the joint being forced suddenly outside its usual range so the inelastic fibres are stretched through too great of a range
What are the grades and their symptoms?
Grade 1 - micro-tears. Localised pain. No bruising. Minimal swelling. Minimal function loss. No laxity in ligament
Grade 2 - partial tear. Immediate onset of inflammatory signs. Moderate swelling. Bruising. Poorly localised pain.impairment and painful range on movement. Joint may be unstable
Grade 3 - complete rupture. Lots of joint instability. Immediate acute pain. Audible pop or crack when injury happened. All inflammatory signs. Later on symptoms may be less than a grade 2 because the severed nerves.
