What is the impact of cultural diversity on the community?

A
  • having people from all different cultures living in Australia amongst a community.
  • as time has progressed, we have a more multicultural community (more diverse)
  • people have different views about whether cultural diversity is positive or negative.
  • different cultures have different beliefs and values
  • follow different things and do things differently
  • different religions
  • different foods
  • different clothing

Cultural Diversity has impacted the community:

  • people are more accepting and understanding of different cultures
  • people marrying from different cultures and having children creating more diversity and acceptance
  • become normal to go to school and places with lots of diverse cultures with people eating different foods or having different coloured skin it’s not negative or unusual to children anymore
  • become more tolerant and respectful of different cultures
  • has improved society and our social outlook
  • racism still occurs to this day though - negative issue

Example of the development/management/use of resources and support systems to adress social issues and trends.

A

Eg: plastic water bottles (social issue)

  • issue because plastic is not good for the environment
  • creates excessive amounts of waste - not sustainable
  • encouraged to buy proper bottles that are durable and can be washed and reused more (more environmentally friendly)
  • encouraged to reduce/ reuse / recycle
  • getting 10c back system in some states - encourages recycling / not littering and saving on waste.
  • managing how they are made to be stronger and more reusable.

Inequity/Injustice Issues experienced by individuals and families. What is it? list 3 issues?

A

= inequality / unfairness

  • things are not always fair and equal for everyone
  • can’t change the rules / favour people
  • eg: school uniform policy ~ if someone doesn’t follow the rules and is let off without consequence/punishment it is unfair to everyone who does the right thing like they are supposed to.

RACISM (not getting the same opportunities due to race)
SAME-SEX / GAY RIGHTS (not having the same marriage rights)
WOMAN & MEN - GENDER (genders are not treated equally with the same pay and it is not fair they way they are stereotyped)
