Relationship between changes in family types/structures & community beliefs/values … (2 examples)
- same sex relationships = more common now days compared to say 20 or so years ago
~more accepted by society/community
~still not accepted/agreed with by everyone but
~moving towards more tolerance and acceptance (equality for everyone) - separation and divorce now days = much more common
~single parents families and step/blended families much more common
~not seen as so unusual/different and negative compared to what it used to many years ago
~society/community has become very accepting/understanding of this
~much higher % of divorce and separation now
Impact of change in family types and structures on individuals/families/community
- separation/divorce of parents might make it difficult for the child.
- parents who are split up might have different rules for the child which can make it very difficult (not working together and on the same page with eachother as to what time the child should go to bed/what they should eat..ect)
- step / blended families may experience conflict with eachother
- children with same sex parents may experience conflict/bullying for their difference - different views from others may find it negative/not approve of it- causing conflict and differences.
