what does the cooling jacket do
removes heat energy stopping the fermenter overheating so no enzymes denature
what does the air filter do
filters air coming in maintaining sterile conditions
what do the stirrers do
keep the broth well stirred to oxygenate all parts of the fermenter and prevent microorganisms settling
what does the growth medium do
it contains all necessary glucose amino acids for microorganism growth
super-heated steam
applied before the fermenter is used, killing unwanted microorganisms
leaves only water with no residue
