Beck et al (2008) implemented the idea of the negative triad which is used to explain depression and instead used it to explain SCZ

Beck claimed that a SCZ person would endorse their dysfunctional self beliefs about their preformance , their ability to enjoy pleasure and will have gloomy view

This explains negative symptoms of Scz such as emotional flatness

Firth (1993) proposed that scz people had 3 areas of dysfunction within their cognitive systems

1- disorders of willed action
2- disorders of self monitoring
3- disorders of monitoring other peoples minds and thoughts

Morrison (1998) suggests that triggers such as sleep deprevation may cause individuals to hear voices in mapadaptive ways
