What do you understand by the term reasonable adjustment ?
Changes that organisations or people providing services must make to ensure workers with disabilities or health issues are not suitability disadvantaged ie non binary toilets, breast feeding rooms, religious rooms
What do you understand by the term reasonable access?
Ensuring that all individuals regardless of their abilities, backgrounds or circumstances have equal opportunities to access information & resources
How do you consider inclusive environments in you day to day role?
Be mindful of the diverse needs of people I interact with
Try to approach all interactions with openness, empathy & willingness
What physical changes to a building are you familiar with or have you seen?
Ramps
Handrails
Lifts
Automatic/accessible doors
Disabled WC
In what situations may physical changes to a building be restricted legally/physically?
Historic/Listed Buildings - changes will require approval
Building design limitations - Space/Structural considerations
Build Regs 2010 - If change would cause undue burden (financially or otherwise)
Planning permissions - ie installing a ramp
What do you do in such a situation?
Seek specialist advice
Evaluate alternative solutions
consider if it is a reasonable adjustment
Appeal a planning decision if refused
Establish if funding or grants are available
What is the definition of an inclusive environment?
One that values & welcomes people of all identities & allows them to be respected and heard

Town & Country Planning Act 1990 & NPPF
Equality Act 2010
How do you promote diversity of user needs/inclusive environments?
Ensure office space is accessible & if not provide alternative choices
Provide flexibility
Incorporate different points of view when making decisions/planning events
