Can you give an example of when you have identified a livestock hazard? what did you do & why?
Steer unhinged a gate at the market & got loose with gate around his neck. I assessed the situation & alerted those in close proximity. I mitigated the risk by running to the end of the pennage to shut the gate and secure the animal. I would not let anyone approach or enter the area where the animal was. Reported the incident to the H&S officer. We reviewed the market completely and conducting a full check of all gates, reviewed & update H&S Policy
35
Can you give an example of when you have identified a machinery hazard what did you do & why?
Tractor was brought into farm and left parked with the loader arm left up. I saw this assessed the risk ie loader arm failing and falling on someone or someone bumping the lever when looking the cab. I mitigated the risk by asking a colleague to stand at a safe distance & not allow anyone to walk under or near the loader arm or enter the cab Found the vendor and ask them to put the loader arm on the ground Reviewed risk assessment making note of this for future sales

37
Tell us about a time you identified an unexpected hazard on site and had to take action immediately?
Inspecting farm buildings for a valuation. Came to a dilapidated shippon the roof had fallen in and the floor didn't look safe. The building was not accessed and this was clearly stated in the valuation
38
What is the hierarchy od risk control?
Eliminate - redesign activity or substitute so hazard is removed ie avoid working from height Substitute - replace activity with another one Engineering Controls - Use equipment and other measures to prevent hazards if they can't be avoided Administrative controls - implement procedures needed to work safely eg reduce the need for lone working PPE - if all other measures are ineffective are controlling a risk, use appropriate PP
