What is an inclusive environment?
- One which is designed and managed to allow people with a diverse range of needs and abilities to access and use it
How can property help an inclusive environment?

What is the Equality Act 2010?
Consolidates discrimination law and provides protection against a wide range of discrimination and inequality
What are the four types of illegal discrimination?
”- Direct
- Indirect
- Harassment
- Victimisation”
Tell me about the Equality Act 2010
”- Extends obligations to all controllers of ‘let premises’
- Unlawful to discriminate against or victimise an occupier
- Landlords needs to ensure all dealings with a tenant or occupier could have a protected characteristic
- Required alterations must be reasonable in cost, extent, disruption
- Access statement/audit for all properties
- Most requirements embedded in Part M of the building regulations
- If obstacle then remove or alter feature or provide reasonable meansto avoid obstacle or alternative access”
What is inclusion?
Inclusion within the workplace is creating an environment and culture where all company employees feel like they belong in the organisation
