List the 4 things to do en-route to a scene
- Obtain:
- description of suspect, vehicle and weapons
- direction of travels - Watch for vehicles coming in and out REGOS
- Discuss responsibilities
- Safe forward point
What 3 important things should you do when responding to an incident to ensure scene integrity?
FREEZE- keep scene in original state, don’t move anything
CONTROL- control movement and activity
PRESERVE- preserve any evidence
What 4 things should you do when speaking to the informant?
- Brief facts..TEDS, 5W’s and H
- Description of Victim/Offender and obtain offenders whereabouts
- Find location of scene and victim
- Keep informant there if possible for further questioning
Responsibilities of a scene guard
U-unauthorised people N- notebook, record all activity B- brief authorised people E- explore and report any suspicious activity N- no contaminating T- think of animals
How do you set boundaries?
Think BIG
Include entry and exit points of offender and any vehicles
What is a SFP?
Safe Forward Point. Safe location near an incident where the forward operations can be supported.
When approaching a victim/body what should you do to ensure the integrity of the scene?
- Don’t touch, move or damage any exhibits
- Try to avoid the path used by the offender
- Use the same path to leave the scene
What information should be included in your SITREP to comms?
- information that could locate the offender
- assistance needed
- location of SFP
Things to note:
Be quiet on radio, don’t give out personal details of victim on radio
Order of priorities attending a scene
Victim is alive or could be alive
- First Aid
- Comms (medical assistance?)
- Pathway for medical staff
- Note injuries
- Statement if possible
- Record
- Someone go with victim

- if there is the slightest chance that someone is alive, perform emergency first aid!
1. Note skin warmth

4. Do not move the body (victim is the scene)
5. Record EVERYTHING
