Mailed questionnaire to gather info on: - Demography - Existing social networks - Education level - People they are responsible for - Contact with friends and family - Perception of support from others Given Psychometric tests - Combined marital status, contact with friends and church membership Details of diagnosis checked in medical records checked between 1980-81. Survival and recurrence rates checked in 1985
