Effective Communication:
Happens when the intended message of the sender and the interpreted meaning of the receiver are one and the same.
Efficient Communication:
Happens at minimum cost in terms of resources expended.
Active Listening
Listen for message content: try to hear real message
Listen for feelings: identify how person feels about message
Respond to Feelings: let person know feelings are being recognized
Constructive Feedback
Give feedback directly and with feeling
Recent and specific examples
Time when receiver is most willing to accept it
Valid, about things the receiver can change
Give in small doses
Use of technology
Email, instant messaging, videoconferencing, intranets etc..
