A non-invasive skin infection characterised by pus-filled vesicles on face and limbs

What causes impetigo?
A
Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes

How is the infection spread?
A
Direct contact. Vesicles can rupture and dry out increasing infectivity

How can patients prevent impetigo?
A
Good skin hygiene

How is impetigo treated?
A
Washing with soapy water and letting air dry
Topical antibiotics:
- Fusidic acid
- Benzoyl peroxide
