Name: Prednisone
Used: prophylactic to prevent rejection
Dose: 0.5-2mg/kg. Acute 500-1500 mg per day
Side effects: Glucose intolerance, infections, hypotension

A

Name: Sandimmune

Used: With or without prednisone in renal, hepatic, pancreatic, cardiac transplant

Mode: Inhibits T-helper activation and production of IL-2
Pharm: Absorbed in GI tract, Half life 10-15h
Dose: 15mg/kg before transplant, 3-10mg/kg after
Side effects: Nephro
Mode: Oral
