rare, intriisnic, usually inherited immune disorder resulting from geentic mutations (usually present at birth and diagnosed in childhood)

A

acquired immunodeficiency as a reusult of disease or environemental factors

(HIv, steriods, mlaignnacy,lymphomas)

More common in males (2:1), as many disorder follow X linked pattern

what are some common causes of SIDS (4 categories)

  • Malnutrition- biggest global cause
  • drug effect
    • chemotherpay
    • immunosupressive drugs (transplant, suppress inflaamtion/autoimmine)
  • chronic infection
    • HIV/AIDs most common
  • Malignancy
    • Leukaemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma
