0, 2, 6 months
First dose is before hospital discharge
What should be done in infants who are born to a hepatitis B antigen (HBsAg) positive mother?
Administer both the Hep B vaccine and 0.5 mL of hep B immune globulin (HBIG) within 12 hours of birth
Test for HBsAg and antibody to HBsAg after 3 doses of Hep B (age 9-18 months)
If the mom’s status is unknown: check status immediately, give Hep B within 12 hours after birth, if mom tests positive, given HBIG within 1 week of age
What is the usual volume for all vaccines?
0.5 ml given IM or SQ, except influenza vaccine is .25 mL IM for children 6-35 months and .5 mL IM for children greater than 3 years
Do not administer the Rotavirus vaccine after _____ weeks. Why?
32 weeks because infants are most at risk and after 32 weeks vaccine associated risks increase
How many doses are in the rotavirus series and how often are they given?
Series of 3, starting at 6 weeks to 32 weeks
First dose should be given between 6 weeks and 14 weeks (so likely at 2 month visit) and each dose is given at 4 week intervals

Given at 2, 4, 6 months old and 1 booster at 12 months
Protects against streptococcus pneumonia
When should the 23PS (Pneumovax) vaccine be given and who should it be given to?
