TELL (DEAR CDT)
Immunization is a way the body defense is strengthened against
Infections and infectious agents, this is usually done by vaccination
We have two main types of immunity. we have the innate and the adaptive immunity
Innate immunity is the general protection we are born with. Like the skin that help fight infection
Adaptive immunity is the immuniy that can acquired

The vaccines we use for vaccination are made from whole or killed part of the organism , but have been made harmless in the lab and they work by triggering an immune response in the person that receives it, cause the person to produce antibodies against the disease, without having the disease. The vaccines could be given orally or injected in to the child’s skin or muscle

We use the national program for immunization schedule in this country
At birth a set of 3 vaccines will be given which includes the BCG, OPVO, HBVO
Then at 6 weeks and 10 weeks OPV 1 and OPV2 and Pentavalent
Vaccine 1 and 2, PCV 1 and 2,Rota 1and 2
At 14 weeks, we give the same vaccines but the Rota vaccine Is
replaced with IPV vaccine

At 6 months, vitamin A will be given
At 9months Yellow fever, measles and meningitis vaccines will be given
At 12 months the second dose of Vitamin A and measles vaccine will be
given

Then at 15 to 18th month the measles mumps and rubella vaccine will be given.
We also give HPV vaccine at 9 years

There could be few side effects that should be aware of, there cough,
fever and redness of the skin and mild ulcer. however vaccinating your
child lowers the risk of childhood Infections, protect them against serious illnesses and also gives a herd immunity by shielding and protecting the unvaccinated children
