Q

Cells mediated response process

A
  1. Phagocytosis
  2. Helper T cells have receptors on their surface - can attach to the antigens on APC
  3. Once attached - activates T helper cells - divide by mitosis to replicate + make a larger number of clones
  4. Cloned helper T cells can differentiate into different cells

Q

What type of cells can cloned helper T cells differentiate to?

A
  • can remain as helper T cells and activate B cells
  • stimulate macrophages to perform more phagocytosis
  • memory cells
  • cytotoxic T cells

Q

What are cytotoxic T cells and what do they do?

A
  • can destroy infected and abnormal cells
  • releases perforin - embeds in cell surface membrane
  • makes pore hole so that any substances can can leave and enter the cell
  • can cause cell death
