Immunity Flashcards
2 types of immunity
Innate, Acquired
non-specific defense systems includes
1.mechanical defense
2.chemical defense
3.defense by NK cells
4.defense by phagocytic cells
5.defense by inflammationand fever
Innate immunity
3rd category of lymphocytes that is either T/B cells
-large granular
-have ability to kill wide variety of microogranism and tumor cells
-do not mature in thymus
Natural Killer (NK Cells)
NK cells recognize antibody coated target cells and kill them by ______ which works more effective in virus and tumor cells
Antibody-dependent cell-mediater cytotoxicity ( ADCC)
resistance developed in the body against any specific foreign body and is also known as specific immunity, most powerful immune mechanism.
Acquired immunity
Reponsible for acquired immunity
Lymphocytes
Types of acquired immunity that body develops circulating antibody which are globulin molecules capable of attacking invading agents
Humoral / B-cell immunity
Immunity through formation of large numbers of activated T lymphocytes to destroy foreign agent
Cell-mediated / T-cell immunity
Substances that induce the body to produce acquired immunity and are proteins / large polyssacharides
Antigen
________ or self antigens present on the body’s own cells
________ or non-self antigen enters the body from outside
Autoantigens; foreign antigens
T and B lymphocytes are derived originally from ________ that form common lymphoid progenitors cells as they are further differentiated or preprocessed
Pluripotent hematopoietic stem cells (PHSC)
Pr- T cells become ______ T cells that futher proliferate into ______
Naive; T-immunoblasts
