Immune 1 Flashcards
All immune cells arise from
Bone marrow hematopoietic stem cells
Granulocytes arise from
Myeloid progenitor
Phagocytosis, opsonization,ADCC,APC, secretion of cytokines, complement system
Macrophages
APC, They express class I and II MHC Present in Blood, LNs, Epithelial cells Examples: Langerhan cells (skin)
Dendritic cells
Released from bone marrow as undifferentiated and differentiate in the
tissues, Morphology and function similar to basophils , Have Fc receptors for IgE (FceRs), Play a very important role in the allergic response, Produce a variety of cytokines
Mast cells
Granulocytes, Three cell types: neutrophils, eosinophils and basophils, based on their staining.Important for removal of bacteria and parasites from the body. They engulf these
foreign bodies and degrade them using their powerful enzymes.
PMNs
contains bactericidal enzymes Efficient phagocytes, receptor for Fc region of IgG & C3b
Neutrophils
APC
Dendritic
Bcells
Macrophages
Have receptors for Complement, Classically seen with:
ü Atopic allergies ü Worm infections ü Collagen Vascualr diseases ü Neoplastic disorders ü Skin rash
Eosinophil
highly toxic to worms
Major Basic Protein (MBP)
Only present in the bloodstream
They play a major role in the allergic response release histamine, Has Fc receptors for IgE (FceRs)
Basophils
Phagocytes
All EXEPT T,B, and NK
Different maturational stages of lymphocytes can be distinguished by
their expression of membrane CD molecules (CD = Cluster of Differentiation)
CD45+, CD3+
T lymphocytes
CD45+, CD3+, CD4+
T helper
