What was the Notting Hill Carnival?
Took place where Windies were attacked by crowds. Began as celebration for pleasure of being alive but became a festival where everyone was welcome.

They developed a ‘black culture’ that many have taken up in different races.

It changed very quickly. Britain now offers a good nation with no ethnic arguments.

Why did some want to go on windrush, apart from forces and work?
Wanted to see the ‘mother country’. This doubled the numbers.

Hurricane in 1944 and sugar was at an all time low. Had to move to Britain
