What is imaan?
Imaan is to wholeheartedly believe in the commandment of Allah which were given to the Prophet. For example belief in the prophets, heaven, and hell.
Is it necessary to testify with the tongue and the heart?
Yes, so that one can be recognised and treated as a Muslim.
Can someone say words of disbelief
to save his life?
This is permissible as long as he still has firm imaan in his heart. However he should try to avoid it at all costs.
By committing major sins, does a person lose his imaan?
No, nor does he become a disbeliever.
What is a major sin?
A sin whose punishment is mentioned in the Quran or hadith. A minor sin committed repeatedly also becomes a major sin.
Which sins will never be forgiven?
Shirk and committing kufr will never be forgiven. Those who die in such a state will never be forgiven. Apart from these Allah is the most merciful.
What is kufr and shirk?
Shirk is to think of someone other than Allah as God or worthy of worship.
Kufr is to reject the essential beliefs that Muhammad taught us.
Is kufr also committed by the actions or just by the words and heart?
Some actions are signs of rejecting Islamic beliefs and will be classed as kufr. For example wearing zunnar or kashkah.
What will happen to the Muslims and disbelievers at the end?
The disbelievers will eternally stay in hell. The Muslims will eventually all go to heaven.
Who is a Muslim?
The one who accepts Islam in his heart and with his tongue and he doesn’t reject any essential beliefs.
If a person testifies by his tongue but not his heart, is he a Muslim?
No he is a hypocrite who’s abode will be the lowest of the hell fire.
What do we call a person who doesn’t accept Islam at all?
A disbeliever
What do we call one who accepts Islam with his heart and tongue, and obtains from shirk and kufr but sins?
He is a faasiq.
