Some positions are more functionally important and require a rarer more specialised skill set.
The system of unequal rewards motivate people to persue challenging and long courses to achieve goals.
What is a criticism of the functionalist perspective on crime?
Functionalist assume that society is meritocratic and best jobs are allocated on the basis of talent and effort and does not consider the discrimination by gender, ethnicity and social class.
Briefly outline the weberian perspective on poverty
WEBERIAN sociologists suggest that inequality arises from the different market position of individuals. The higher your market position the greater your reward etc.
Why do the poor have a weak position the labour market?
They are marginalised because they lack education and skills. They only have common skills which do not translate into high rewards.
