Ice and Rain protection Flashcards
What are the type of ice and rain protection?
Bleed air operated Wing Anti-ice and Engine Anti-ice
Electro-thermal operated Probe Heat and Flight Deck Window Heat.
When can wing anti ice be used?
In flight only
What is the EICAS indication for wing anti ice?
Green WAI on the respective side
What is the EICAS indication for nacelle anti ice?
green NAI on the respective engine
When are the TAT probes heated?
Automatically in flight.
With regard to ice protections, whats the difference between the front and side windows?
Front: Have anti-ice and anti fog
Side: Have anti fog only
Does Wing Anti-Ice operate when the aircraft is on the ground?
No
On the ground, with at least one engine running, which of the probe heat systems is not operating?

The window heat switches are normally ____ for all flight operations.
ON
T/F: Engine Anti-Ice can operate on the ground or in flight.
True
Can wing anti-ice be used with LE flaps extened?
No it is ineffective
When is engine bleed air not available for nacelle anti ice?
-The Pressure Regulating Valve (PRV) has failed closed, or
-The Pressure Regulating Valve (PRV) has been closed due to a bleed air overheat, or
-The start valve has not closed, or
-The Engine Bleed Air switch is selected OFF and the HP bleed valve is failed open
What will EECs do when the NAI is on?
EECs will automatically adjust the thrust, to provide adequate bleed air for the condition.
