When is SMGCS used?
RVR below 1200 initiated by ATC
What is ASDE radar?
Airport Surface Detection and Equipment
What is a taxiway clearance bar?
3 yellow, unidirectional in-pavement lights (DOTS),
Not required to stop unless directed
What are geographic position markings?
Markings used to identify location and supplement ASDE is necessary.
Taxiway intersection sign
Centerline lights are illuminated only in the direction that the aircraft is suppose to taxi.
Apron holding location
Yellow clearance bar only visible to aircraft entering the movement area, clearance required.
Runway Stop bar lights
Required for less than 600 or 1200 RVR depending on ops requirements
Used to confirm verbal commands, in conjunction with green lead on lights
Can you cross an illuminated stop bar with ATC clearance?
No, Never when illuminated.
ILS critical area
Yellow ladder, used to minimize interference.

mid RVR 150M
