A
Hypothermia is usually defined as a core body temperature below 35ºC.
Patients with moderate or severe hypothermia frequently become hypotensive, especially during rewarming, as re-warming can lead to peripheral vasodilatation. Aggressive fluid resuscitation is thus appropriate.
J-waves on ECGs are positive deflections occurring at the junction between the QRS complex and the ST segment. They are most characteristically associated with hypothermia, but may also be seen with other abnormalities such as hypercalcaemia, and neurological insults such as subarachnoid haemorrhage and intracranial hypertension
