What is the dose of phenylephrine for hypotension?
is it alpha or beta?
50 - 100 mcg
Alpha only
What dose of labetalol is used for hypertension?
2.5 - 5 mg (Can increase to 10mg)
What dose of Propanolol is given for B1 and B2 blocking?
1 - 10 mg
What dose of esmolol is utilized for hypertension (or tachycardia)?
10 - 80 mg
What dose of hydralazine is utilized for hypertension?
Initial dose: 2.5 mg - 10 mg
What is the dose of ephedrine for hypotension?
Is ephedrine α or β?
- 5 - 10mg
- Ephedrine is both α & β
What dose/infusion rate would you use for Epi?
Infusions:
- 1-2 mcg/min (B2)
- 4 mcg/min (B1)
- 10-20 mcg/min (alpha mostly)
Bolus:
- 1-2mcg
What bolus dose would you use for vasopressin? what does it do in the body for HoTN?
1 - 2 units
increases CO and increases PVR
MOA of Nitric Oxide
Inhibits Ca++ entry into the smooth muscle and increases uptake by the ER
Sodium Notroprusside MOA and dose
Dissociates upon contact with oxyhemoglobin and releases NO and cyanide
Dose: 0.3 mcg/kg/min (2mcg/kg/min max)
Nitroglycerin MOA and dose
Converts into NO in the body
Dose: 5 - 10 mcg/min infusion (titrate to effect)
good to use with sphincter of Oddi spasm
Nicardipine MOA and dose
Bind to voltage-gate Ca channels and decrease Ca influx
Dose: 5mg/hr increase by 2.5mg/hr x4 to a max a 15mg/hr
