DIAGNOSTIC CRITERIA
A
- 3 or more characteristics symptoms lasting at least 4 days
- Not severe enough to interfere with social or occupational functioning, or include psychotic features

CLINICAL FEATURES
A
- Similar to mania but less severe
- Midly elevated, expansive or irritable mood
- Increased energy and activity
- Marked feelings of well-being, physical and mental efficiency
- Increased self-esteem
- Sociability
- Talkativeness
- Over-familiarity
- Increased sex drive
- Reduced need for sleep
- Difficulty focusing on one task alone

DIFFERENTIALS
A
- Agitated depression
- OCD/other anxiety disorders
- Circadian rhythm disorders
- Substance misuse
- Physical illness
- Medication related

MANAGEMENT
A
- Exclusion other cause with investigation
- Address psychosocial stressors
- If sleep disturbance, consider use of hypnotic
- If prolonged, possible medication management
