Q

What is the management of hyperthermia?

A
  1. Verify temperature is real
  2. Assess vital signs and mental status to determine urgency
  3. Narrow differential diagnosis
  4. Supportive measures as required
  5. Pharmacologic intervention as necessary based on etiology (e.g. abx, tylenol, chemo)
  6. If infection or malignancy consider various imaging modalities and tests (e.g., PPD, CT scan, TEE/TTE, LP, bone marrow bx, etc
