A
A BP of >140/90, not accompanied by the presence of proteinuria in a pregnant women of over 20 weeks gestation

Definition of Essential/Chronic Hypertension
A
A BP of >140/90 in a non-pregnant person

Diagnosis of Hypertension
A
- A Diastolic BP of >90 more than twice
- A systolic BP of 160 once
- A systolic BP of >140 more than once
- A rise in diastolic BP by 15-20mmHg from booking BP

Pre-disposing factors
A
- Prims
- Short stature
- Large BMI
- Older maternal age
- medical conditions
- Multiple pregnancy

Treatment
A
- Alpha blockers
- Beta blockers
- Labetalol
- Aspirin
- Hydrazine
- Nifidapine

Care
A
Mild (140/90): - Bp 1x weekly, urinalysis at each visit, bloods as per standard protocol
Moderate (150/100): - Bp 2x weekly, labetalol, urinalysis at each visit, bloods 1x ans then routine care
Severe (160/110): - admit until 159/109, labetalol, bp 4x daily, urinalysis 1x daily, bloods weekly
