Q

causes hypercalcemia

A

HIGH CAL
hyperparathyroidism
high parathyroid hormone causes too much Ca to be released in the blood
Increased intake of Calcium ( supplements, vit d and Ca)
Gluccorticoids ( suppress Ca absorbtion)
Hyperthyroidsm
Calcium excretion decreased with thiazide diuretics, renal failure and bone cancer
Addrenal insuficiency ( Addisons)
Lithium usage ( affects parathyroid) cause phos to decrease and Ca to increase
