hyperacute, acute, and chronic Flashcards
1
Q
hyapreacute
A
- immediate and rare
- when circulation is reestablished to the graft area, the graft immediately turns white instead of pink. This type of rejection occurs because of a preexisting antibody (type 2) to antigens on the vascular endothelial cells
2
Q
acute
A
- occurs within days to months after transplantation
- develops an immune response against unmatched HLA antigens after transplantation
3
Q
chronic
A
- months to years
- slow, progressive organ failure and results from a weak cell-mediated reaction against minor histocompatibility antigens on the grafted tissue
