Order of body cleaning when providing a bath:
Eyes Face Arms Chest Hands/nails Abdomen Legs Perineum Back Buttocks
How to get rid of ticks: (3)
- Use blunt tweezers and pull upward with steady pressure
- Hold for 3-4 min
- Save tick in plastic bag and put in freezer for identification
Order of oral care:
- Chewing and inner tooth surface
- Outer tooth surface
- Roof of mouth, gums, inside cheek
- Tongue
Edentulous:
Without teeth
Partial bath:
- Washing body parts the pt cannot reach
- For self-sufficient bedridden pts
Complete bed bath:
For totally dependent pts in bed
Sponge bath:
Pt sits in chair
Order of cleaning the body during a bag bath:
- Neck, shoulders, chest
- Arms, hands, web spaces, axilla
- Abdomen and groin/perineum
- Legs, feet, web spaces
- Back of neck, back, buttocks
Bag bath:
Using different cloths soaked with chlorhexidene gluconate soln to wash each section of body-> allow skin to air dry
Advise pts with stomatitis to avoid:
Alcohol, commercial mouthwash, smoking
Hearing aid instructions:
- Adjust volume for talking distance of 1 yard
- Wear 10-12 hrs per day
- Change battery once a week
