Hydraulics Flashcards
Minimum dispatch hydraulic fluid quantity levels are:
- No. 1 system- 3.0 US gallons (11.34 litres); No. 2 system- 1.5 US gallons (5.67 litres).
- No. 1 system- 3.0 US quarts (2.83 litres); No. 2 system- 1.5 US quarts (1.41 litres).
- No. 1 system- 1.5 US quarts (1.41 litres); No. 2 system- 3.0 US quarts (2.83 litres).
- No. 1 system- 1.5 US gallons (5.67 litres); No. 2 system- 3.0 US gallons (11.34 litres).
- No. 1 system- 1.5 US quarts (1.41 litres); No. 2 system- 3.0 US quarts (2.83 litres).
The standby hydraulic pumps:
- Are gear-type, constant-volume pumps.
- Provide backup pressure for the No. 1 and No. 2 systems.
- Operate continuously.
- Operate only for alternate landing gear extension.
- Provide backup pressure for the No. 1 and No. 2 systems.
The purpose of the PTU is to:
-Retract the gear in the event of a #1 engine failure.
-Retract the gear in the event of a #2 engine failure.
-To power the #2 hydraulic system in the event of fluid loss from the #2
system.
-Transfer hydraulic fluid from #1 hydraulic system to #2 hydraulic system in the event of a fluid loss.
- Retract the gear in the event of a #2 engine failure.
The subsystems actuated by the No. 1 hydraulic system are:
- Landing gear, nosewheel steering, outboard roll spoilers, and upper rudder actuator.
- Flaps, brakes and antiskid, inboard roll spoilers, lower rudder actuator, and the power transfer unit.
- Flaps, landing gear, brakes and antiskid, and ground spoilers.
- Power transfer unit, alternate gear extension, and outboard and inboard
roll spoilers.
- Flaps, brakes and antiskid, inboard roll spoilers, lower rudder actuator, and the power transfer unit.
Illumination of a STBY HYD PUMP HOT caution light indicates:
- Fluid over temperature in the standby system.
- Over temperature of the windings in the electric motor driving the standby
pump.
- The engine driven pump is overheating
- The standby pump is hot.
- Over temperature of the windings in the electric motor driving the standby
pump.
The main system reservoirs are pressurized by:
- Cabin pressure
- A spring in the reservoir
- Engine bleed air
- System pressure applied to a differential piston
- System pressure applied to a differential piston
The ENG HYD PUMP caution light illuminates when:
- EDP output pressure drops below 2,750 psi.
- EDP output pressure drops below 2,000 psi
- EDP output pressure drops below 3,000 psi.
- The power transfer unit is activated.
- EDP output pressure drops below 2,000 psi
The main source of pressure for the No. 1 and No. 2 hydraulic systems is:
- Electrically driven standby pumps.
- Battery powered pump.
- Engine-driven pumps.
- The power transfer unit.
- Engine-driven pumps.
The number of hydraulic systems on the Dash 8 aircraft is:
