HYDRAULICS Flashcards
What does the HYD CONT RUDDER SWITCH do……
Allows selection of manual rudder operation
When pushed, off illuminates and hydraulic power to the rudder is shut off, and the rudder reverts to manual operation
What does the TRANS pump switch do…..
ON
OFF
Enables a pressurized system to mechanically power an unpressurized systme when both system resevoir quatities are normal
ON-opens valve on each side of Power Transfer Unit to connect left and right systems.
OFF-Closes valve on each side of the PTU to disconnect left and right systems
What does the AUX hydraulic switch do….
ON
OFF
ON- Auxiliary Pump iscommanded on
OFF- Auxiliary pump is commanded off
What is the purpose of the electrically driven auxiliary pump…..
Two purposes - back up to the right engine driven pump and to pressurize the hydraulic system on the ground when the engines are not running
Where is the right AUX hydraulic switch….
Right wheel well
If the right engine driven pump fails or the right engine fails, what happens to the components
The AUX pump maybe used to power the components
What happens to the AUX pump if it overheats….
Has a built in thermal protection and automatically shuts down if it overheats
Hydraulic system test
Pressuize the system the first flight of the day exterior inspection. Make sure to coordinate with the ground crew or another flight deck crewmember to obtain clearance to turn the TRAN and AUX HYDRAULIC PUMPS. If no observer is available, it may be done with alternate procedures.
What happens if you have a electrical failure on the engine driven hydraulic pumps…..
When electrical power is removed from the pump, it defaults to on
Items controlled on the Left Hydraulic system (3)
- Left and right inboard spoilers
- Left Engine Thrust Reverser
- Elevator Augmentation system
Items on the right hydraulic system (4)……
- Left and right outbard spoilers
- Rudder
- Right thrust reverser
- Landing gear
Items controlled by both Hydraulic systems (5)…..
- Slats
- Flaps
- Rudder Stop Limiter
- Nosewheel Steering
- Brakes
What happens to the respective hydraulic system when you pull the fire handle….
Associated Engine Hydraulic Shutoff Valve is closed and fluide is cut off to the engine
