Fire Protection Flashcards
What happens when FIRE WARNING TEST is connducted using BATTERY POWER only
All indications will be the same except F/O MASTER WARNING LIGHT will not illuminate and the cyan PODS TEST PASS alert message on EAD will not illuminate
If APU FIRE WARNING TEST is conducted on battery power what must be accomplished after start
Test must be accomplished again to make sure everything is working properly
What indications do you get on a engine fire (5)
- L/R ENG FIRE hanlde light illuminates
- FUEL switch light illuminates
- Aural/Vocal warning sounds
- ENGINE L/R alerts on EAD
MASTER WARNING lights flash
What indications do you get on APU FIRE (5)
- APU FIRE alert on EAD
- APU automatically shuts down
- MASTER WARNING lights flash
- FIRE light on external APU ground control panel illuminates
- Aural/Vocal warnings sound (Flight Deck-3 cycles, and horn will continue until fire is extinguished)
CARGO SMOKE or FIRE Indications (8)
- MASTER WARING lights
- MASTER CAUTION lights
- CARGO SMOKE voice warning from CAWS
- CARGO SMOKE FWD OR AFT level 3 EAD and AIR SD
- Land at nearest suitable airport - displayed on consequence page
- DISCHARGE CARGO AGENT - Displayed on EAD and AIR SD
- AIR SD will display RED triangles
- AFT/FWD CARGO SMOKE AGENT DISH switchlight will flash “PUSH”
What happens aprox after 1 min of the cargo bottle discharged
The amber AFT/FWD CARGO SMOKE AGENT DISCH “PUSH” switchlight will extinguish and be replaced by an amber “LOW” light indicating the first halon bottle has discharged. A CARGO AGENT 1 LO alert will also be displayed on the EAD.
What happens approximately 6 mins after the CARGO AGENT is blown
similar alerts will direct the second Halon Bottle into the appropriate cargo compartment. The second bottle discharges at a slower rate. CARGO AGENT 2 LO alert will illuminate after 2 hours
How do you know if the cargo smoke agent is discharged
Red triangles displayed on the AIR synoptic are cargo smoke detectors
LAVATORY FIRE indications (3)
- MASTER CAUTION lights Illuminate
- LAVATORY SMOKE alert on EAD
- HI-LO chime on the PA
Engine/APU LOOP switch operation on the AFT overhead panel
BOTH
A/B
BOTH - (Normal Position) - minimizes false warnings since both loops have detect a fire or overheat position before activating a fire warning
A/B - Used for dispatch if one fire loop is inoperative. Fire warning will still occur is a fire is detected in the selected loop.
What does the fire detection system consist of……..
Two independent, heat-sensitive detector loops located in each engine and the APU. Each loop provides both fire and overheat detection.
Engine Fire Extinguishing Controls and Indications FIRE TEST AGENT 1/2 LOW FAULT TEST ENGINE FIRE HANDLE
FIRE TEST - Test both A and B loops
AGENT 1/2 LOW - Illuminated - Respective agent has been discharged
FAULT TEST - Maintenance use only
ENGINE FIRE HANDLE - light illuminated associated engine fire is detected or test in progress
